Star Fable Kick Off
For my first dev log, I thought I would talk about how the basic design came about for Star Fable.
Over the years I've played more than a few adventure games with my daughter and she loves them from start to finish. The controller always ended up in my hands for combat though. So I started exploring what a top down adventure game would look like if we took away the sword. We talked about what kind of hero or heroin we wanted and landed on a princess. We explored lots of different powers and abilities, and ended up with fewer than most adventure games. Star Fable has a long way to go before it includes all of the things on our wish list, but it is moving fast.
It's been incredibly humbling and exciting watching these kids play test as the game comes along. Years of experience playing games has changed the way I view things. Through the fresh eyes of my kids, I hope we can create a game that is as welcoming and playable for the next generation as the originals were for me.
